    I have a Customer Service application that is open to the public. One of the input fields is used to enter a Bill of Lading number. I have that app connected to the main app that I use to adjudicate claims. After the customer enters a request, I have to manually enter that Bill of Lading number into a lookup field which then links that request to the main app that houses their claim. Is there any way to get the app to use the Bill of Lading number the customer enters to automatically fill in the lookup field as well?

    Can you explain if you have a relationship between your EOTI (Every One on The Internet) app and the internal App?

    I do. Parent table is Military Claims in my Claim Module app and the child table is Requests in my Customer Request Portal (this is the EOTI app)

    OK, so are you looking to Auto create either by an Automation or a button, a record in Military Claims with the BOL# when an internet user creates a claim?

    They already have a claim I am working on in my main app Military Claims. I have to go into my Customer Request Portal, open a request, hit edit and using the bill of lading number the user has entered, I input that info into a lookup field that is linked to the military claims table which then allows me to see that request from their claim in the main app. I would like it if when a service member enters a request, that request automatically linked itself to their main claim in my Military Claims app.

    OK, Based on your off line message to me, what you seem to be asking is 

    Can we have an Automation or Pipeline) fire when an EOTI Customer Service claim is entered to look for any records in the Military Claims Table which has the same BOL# as was entered in the EOTI app, and if so link the EOTI record to the Military claim by editing that EOTI record to update the [Related Military Claim] field with the Record ID# of the Military Claim.

    Let me think about that.

    OK, so this is possible with a pair Automations.

    The first Automation would be triggered when an EOTI Customer Service request is added and and the BOL# is not blank.  The Automation would Edit Records in the Military Claims table where the BOL matches the BOL of the trigger EOTI record and then update a new field you would create called 

    [Record ID# of Most Recent Service Request inquiry]

    with the value on the field [Record ID#] of the trigger record in the EOTI app.  It would also have to update a date time field called [Date / Time of Last Service Request] with the current date and time.  To do that I would create a formula field on the EOTI Table called [Current Date / Time] with a formula of Now()

    Great, so now the Military Claim record "knows" that a new EOTI request just come in for it.  Now, how do we update that EOTI record with the Record ID# of the Military Claim.

    We would set up a new Automation to be triggered when the field [Date / Time of Last Service Request] changes.  It would then Edit records in EOTI where the BOL is not blank and where the BOL matches the BOL of the trigger record and to be safe where the [Related Military claim] is blank  and it would update the field [Related Military Request] with the value of [Record ID#] of the trigger record.

    The other thought I had which would be a simple step would be to set the field for [Related Military Claim] to be Conditional  and to limit the choices to where the BOL matches the BOL entered.

    That way when you got o manually link up to the correct Parent Military claim there would be just 1 drop down choice to choose from.
