Preventing date selection for dates before the current date

  • 1.  Preventing date selection for dates before the current date

    Hi,

I have a date field that our users are selecting dates that are in the past and it should always be in the future/today. I didn't see any settings to prevent this from happening. Is there a formula or a setting to prevent a past date for just one field?

    Thanks!

Well, here is what you asked for, but it may not be when you need.

You can use a form rule

    When the Record is saved
    Condition
[date] is before "the current date"

    Action
Abort the save with a message "Sorry, but dates must not be in the past"

But the issue to consider is that though the passage of time, all dates will eventually be in the past, so no one will be able to edit the record.  So,there will need to be more to this setup depending what your use case is.

Is this just for when the record is initially created?

    Catelyn,

Go to the Advanced settings for the Table and build a custom data rule.   If use Date Created in the formula that will be the same as Today when the record is created.
