Pipelines vs Automations

    Hi everyone,

When automating things in Quick Base (no outside API needed) what is the general guidelines on when to use Automations vs Pipelines?  Is there any benefit to moving existing automations to Pipelines?

I personally don't see any benefit to moving an existing Automation which is in production and works just fine to be a Pipeline.  I think that the decision only comes when making a new one.

The decision factors for a a new internal one (ie Quick Base to Quick Base), in my opinion will depending on the complexity of the steps.  if you can do what you want in One Automation, I would use an Automation.  But if you find you need to set up a series of Automations triggering off a Previous one completing, then I would consider an Automation as it can have branching logic.

Thanks Mark.  My one pet peeve with automations is troubleshooting them.  I had one just fail on me that has been in place for several months.  It gives no help as to why it failed grrr
