Pipeline or Automation Help Converting State Names to abbreviations

I am trying to prevent inconsistent data with my address fields.  I have logic in my projects table in the custom data rules to ensure that the field state/region from the default Address field quick base gives you checks to ensure the state is spelled write or the abbreviation is present.  That was a good suggestion I got through the quick base slack channel.

Now trying to create an automation or pipeline that checks to see if the full state name is present and if so convert it to the abbreviation.  I know I can do this in a pipeline check to see if a new record is created and running if then logic but that means I need to build each step individually.  Just going to take forever to build this thing out and very manual.  Trying to see if there is a better more efficient way to do this?  I want the trigger to be set anytime a project is created or the field state/region is modified.

    Thanks!

I'm a little confused here. You are saying you are using the default address field but in my experience, and even just testing it now, the default address field has a dropdown for states. You cannot enter it yourself you must select one of the available options that is already there.

If this is not the default address field I have some ideas for what you could do. Even if it is the default field you could have a formula field on the side calculating the abbreviation of the states.

Sorry forgot an important detail, the addresses are in international setting as we have a few clients in Canada.
