Record Picker configuration

There is a table relationship between Sections table and Table B, Sections is the parent or master.  In a Table B form there is a dropdown that the user can select Browse all sections and choose the parent Sections record.  I do not want users to be able to create new sections from the child table Table B.  Therefore, how do I remove the "Add New sections" button:

Users in Roles which do  not have permissions to add records, will not be offered the Add button.

ie, set the Role permissions to  not allow ADD.

    Hi Jeff,

You can restrict them to add records in the master table. You can do so through the role settings.

App Settings->Roles-> then, uncheck the add record option.

Do let me know if you need any further help.

    Thanks,

    Gaurav

I have a very similar question so I'd like to build on this question rather than start a whole new one. I want to allow the user to add records to the parent table. I just don't want them doing it from the record picker embedded in an add/edit operation to a child record. Also, when "Add a new record" is selected from the record picker no prompt is made to create the new parent and the child record is saved with a value of "_other" in the related parent field.

I have the same desire. It is a process driven need, not permission based. I thought there used to be a checkbox on the reference field or reference field proxy that allowed you to turn off the option to "Create a Record" at the bottom of a dropdown.

np, let the user add a record via Permissions, but in the user Interface, check the box to Hide the ADD button

Mark, sorry for the necro post - is the user interface checkbox to hide the ADD button still present? If so, can you please point me at this setting? I can't find it.
