Predecessors - conditional drop-down or selection?

Hello, I'm using predecessors in tasks, but when I go to select a preceding task, it gives me a list of ALL tasks, not just ones actually associated to the specific project I'm in. Is there a way to make the pop-up list of available predecessors limit itself to the tasks within the same project?

    It works how it works and that functionality has been unchanged in decades and is unlikely to ever change. 

    For what it's worth in my opinion the whole predecessor thing works very well if you can set up templates and then use copy master detail to create the children. But users will find it too painful to do on a regular basis themselves for a particular single project.

     You might be able to do something by manipulating Excel to get your template Tasks built.
