Table Relationships

Greetings,
I need to use the same look-up field (reference proxy) multiple times in a relationship.  Is the only way to do this is to create multiple relationships between the same tables?
TABLE - EMPLOYEES; FIELD - EMPLOYEE NAME (reference proxy)
RELATIONSHIP - EMPLOYEES to PROJECTS

I need to use the EMPLOYEE NAME in PROJECTS to assign MANAGER
I also need to use the EMPLOYEE NAME in PROJECTS to assign ASST MANAGER
