ContributionsMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsBest Practises GuidanceOur organization has only been using Quickbase for almost a year. All of the tables and apps have been at the management level and it was very normal for everyone to see all data. We are now considering expanding our usage of Quickbase to our 136 external offices. All of those offices' data is what we see now in our tables and apps. However, we are considering giving the lead at each office a login; however, we want to restrict their viewing down to just their office's data. Each office has a unique number which all other tables reference back to. The office number is certainly the key to the parent table for all child tables. The first thought I had was to create one role for each office and restrict the role to viewing only data = that office number. That seems cumbersome to create 136 roles. I suspect you all have a much easier, cleaner, and better way to do this. Any and all guidance is really appreciated ------------------------------ Ryan Shook ------------------------------ Re: Webhooks message body formatI am wondering if you figured this out? I have been trying to make a Webhook for 2 days using Pipelines. I get the same errors you do. I have gone through all the documentation, formatted the headers, have the access token, etc.. but still error regarding authorization. I am certain it has something to do with the format of the request that is being sent from Pipelines but I cannot figure out how to see what the final request being sent looks like - any further discoveries you make would be extremely helpful - thank you ------------------------------ Ryan Shook ------------------------------ Scheduling a report at a specific time to runI have a report that must be run automatically (which means I do it right now) daily at a specific time. I cannot set a subscription on this because subscriptions cannot be fired at specific times (something I wish could be scheduled). Is there a way using an automation or Pipeline to automatically schedule a report to run daily? ------------------------------ Ryan Shook ------------------------------ Re: Best Practises / Strategy for Senior Management Dashboard Very much appreciated ------Original Message------ So bad news and good news. The bad news is that there is not a setting to make a button open in a new tab. The good news is there is a trick. Make a Dashboard element as a text box. Write the words for the link to a report. Highlight and use the link to turn that into a hyperlink, and it will ask you if you want to open in a new tab. You do get a lot of flexibility of those text boxes and there is even a way to insert a table to Lines things up neatly. ------------------------------ Mark Shnier (YQC) Quick Base Solution Provider Your Quick Base Coach http://QuickBaseCoach.com mark.shnier@gmail.com ------------------------------ Re: Best Practises / Strategy for Senior Management Dashboard Good luck indeed! How do I get the button to open in a new tab as indicated below (keeping the core dashboard in one place will be key otherwise they will be LOST) ------Original Message------ Try this Copy the URL for a report onto your clipboard. Go to the Executive Dashboard page and create an element which is a "web page", Paste in the URL but manually suffix it with &ifv=1 That should embed the report. But the issue will be that if they start to drill down it gets messy. So you can also put a button as a URL and train them (good luck with that :) to use the button to see the full report with drill down. There is also a way to get the button to open in a new tab, if you need that. But one step at a time .... ------------------------------ Mark Shnier (YQC) Quick Base Solution Provider Your Quick Base Coach http://QuickBaseCoach.com mark.shnier@gmail.com ------------------------------ Best Practises / Strategy for Senior Management DashboardI have a senior management group that dabbles in Quickbase usage when I can make it extremely easy for them (typically dashboard views). Our applications are separated by states (one app per state) I would like to create a management dashboard that pulls key information from several different applications onto one dashboard. Can someone let me know if this is the correct strategy to take? I am trying to avoid them going from app to app. I am not even certain if a dashboard can pull reports from another app unless I make a connected table between the two apps. Any suggestions or advice would be great. ------------------------------ Ryan Shook ------------------------------ Data Validation StrategyI am a relatively new user and I learn an enormous amount from all of you so thank you! My question, I have a form which schools enter their attendance in daily. I only want them to submit one time. Is there a data validation or script that I can create that checks to see if a school has entered more than one time. I am checking this manually daily by sorting by the day and their school number, but it would be nice If I could create some sort of script or report that indicates duplicate entries on the same day for a single school number. I am probably missing something so obvious - any help is appreciated ------------------------------ Ryan Shook ------------------------------ Re: Looking for a report strategy You are a lifesaver. Not only that, you just taught me a technique that I carry over to many other tables. Thank you so much! ------Original Message------ np On the relationship make a summary field of the #of Children where the Reporting Date is equal to Today. Set the checkbox on that field to treat blank as zero. Call it [# of of Attendance Reports for Today] Then make a Report on the Parent Schools table where [# of of Attendance Reports for Today] = 0. ------------------------------ Mark Shnier (YQC) Quick Base Solution Provider Your Quick Base Coach http://QuickBaseCoach.com mark.shnier@gmail.com ------------------------------ Looking for a report strategyI am looking for a way to create a report for schools that have not reported attendance that day. I have a parent schools table. I have a child table used for total enrollment per day which gets the school name from the parent schools table. I want to create a report on the child table which tells me, for that day, which schools have not reported attendance. Thankfully I only have 136 schools. Somehow the child table needs to make a comparison, for that day, against the parent table for what schools are missing. I am relatively new Quickbase user and I have exhausted my current skill set trying to come up with a way. Any strategies would be greatly appreciated. ------------------------------ Ryan Shook ------------------------------ Re: Branding ExamplesWe used our company logo and several of our brand underneath ------------------------------ Ryan Shook ------------------------------
