ContributionsMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsScheduled Record Creations Table A has many children in Table B. I would like it that when a record in Table A is created, two weeks later a record is created in Table B if certain fields meet a specific criteria. Example would be to only create the record in Table B is the status field of the record for Table A is not closed. Which I would also like to scale up to 4 weeks and 6 weeks as well. Now in Automations I see that I could instantly create the three records in Table B. Though if the status field in Table A is closed before reaching any of those time frames, there are three records in Table B that did not need to be created and need to be deleted. Any recommendations on how to approach this? ------------------------------ Jordan Beatty ------------------------------ Re: Best Way To Summarize Numbers To Calculate Overages My mistake, didn't realized responding through email sent a direct message. So it's been a reallll long time since I have had to do anything Quickbase related. I have it linked so that a table called Date Range has many activities. So I changed the reference field from numeric to numeric formula, but it keeps telling me it is expecting text? ------------------------------ Jordan Beatty ------------------------------ Best Way To Summarize Numbers To Calculate Overages The table structure is one Parent Company has many Companies and one Company has many activities. The parent company record contains a limit to calculate overages. The activity records contain a Time Logged Field and a Date/Time Field. Currently, I summarize Time Logged from Activities into Companies, filtered to only summarize from previous month. That data is then summarized into the Parent Company where that total - limit is the overage for the previous month. This works great for calculating overages for the previous month. But what if I want to calculate the previous quarter, or a random month from the previous year? Should I be trying to summarize this in the Activity table or Parent Company Table? I can easily sort my Month and Date in the Activity table, but can I pull down the limit and use it in a calculation against a total in a summary report? ------------------------------ Jordan Beatty ------------------------------ How to send API_GetRecordInfo response elsewhereI run this script on the record var dbid = "xxxxxx"; console.log(kRid); var promise = $.post(dbid, { act: "API_GetRecordInfo", rid: kRid, }); $.when(promise).then(function(xml) { console.dirxml(xml); console.log($("errcode", response).text()); }); And it is returning an XML document containing all the fields and their values for the record as predicted. Though, now I would like to send the retrieved XML document else where. Is their a best way to do this within Quickbase? I am not totally sure on how to do this. All I have been given currently is a URL of where to send it to, and googling hasn't gotten me very far yet Re: Pass value to your custom code pageSo I am not sure if anyone has a better way... but since I am running the script on the page, there is a variable on the page calledkRidthat seems to hold the record ID for whatever record you are in. It seems to be working for me but I am unsure if it is the best wayPass value to your custom code pageI setup the the user defined variable required to run scripts off of formula URL field button click I am currently using: var dbid = "xxxxxx"; var promise = $.post(dbid, { act: "API_GetRecordInfo", rid: "6400", }); $.when(promise).then(function(xml) { console.dirxml(xml); console.log($("errcode", response).text()); }); My issue is that the record ID I have there is hard coded. I would like to pass the record ID of the record I am inside to the code page, to run GetRecordInfo for the record I am on. Where can I read to learn how to do this or can I have some guidance? Send information within Quickbase to an external URLWell, I haven't been around here for 1 year since my coop ended at the place I was at that was using Quickbase but they asked for help on something so now I got some questions with some more advanced stuff. Scenario Sister company has custom reporting software to auto fill documents. We would like to use it as well. I just need to get the info out of Quickbase and send it to the URL I have been given. My Research From what I have gathered searching, this will take a custom code page, since I can click and API call to get an XML dump on my page natively but I can't redirect it natively I have two options from reviewing the API, either get record info or do query. Given I do not need to get all of the fields out of a record, I feel that do query is my best option. Desired Method of Use I have made so many nested URL buttons, for user friendliness, I would like to keep it a button. So from what I gathered, I will have them click the button that loads the custom code page to send the data. First Step I am now starting to work on a hard coded page. In this page, I am essentially going to hard code <query>{3.EX.6201}</query> Which should return the information from only one record as record ID 6201 is distinct since it is the primary key for that table(for the time being I am just returning one field till I know it is working). I will know its working because I can keep swapping record ID I am hard coding and watch the field I am returning changing. So the real challenge I am asking is, in a formula URL button that will load the custom code page, how can I pass the record ID from the record they are in to the API request as something like URLRoot() & "db/" & [_DBID_CLAIMS_OR_PROJECTS] & "?a=API_DoQuery&udata=mydata&query={3.EX." & [Record ID#] & "}&clist=6.7&fmt=structured" Won't work in a code pageRe: Trigger Action on Summarized FieldThe action will be adding a record for each in another table where billing is done and will contain the summarized information from Table A. What I am trying currently, was I had a formula field I called Trigger, which was [Summarized Field] +1 So when the specific field trigger was changed, and after it changed the result was greater then one. it would fire the actionTrigger Action on Summarized FieldTable A is the parent table and Table B is the child. Monthly, we go onto a website and download data that gets loaded into Table B It all gets complied into one spreadsheet. Table A's primary key is record ID, so I use a VLOOKUP formula in the complied spread sheet to get that record ID for the relationship. This based on a report I built that we just download monthly so only information that pertains to records in Table A is uploaded. There are summary fields in Table A that are working perfectly summarizing the record of Table B appropriately. This all works smoothly, and is saving time. Now the issue is that I would like an action to be triggered in Table A whenever a specific summary field changes. Previously, we would read the downloaded data and create activities in the activity table and bill clients based on the summarized data.Currently, all that we need to do is compile all the data in one spreadsheet and run a macro I create then upload it. But we are missing the billing component. From what I can see it is not possible to trigger an action because you cannot use summarized fields. Any thoughts or work arounds?Re: How to link to local filesFor those curious as to how to do this look here
