"Error Displaying Report" message in Reference Field value on form

This may have been asked before but I could not find it. I am receiving a red error message saying 'error displaying report' on a View form as a reference field's value. I opened the customize this form page to look around, made no changes, clicked save, and the message was gone. A few days later, I opened the form again and it was there?

I've seen this before and it seems arbitrary, as it comes and goes sporadically. Anyone know what this is?

I have seen that happen too, but typically only when the field is first put on the form. Then it seems remember who it is and subsequently behaves properly.

I'm encountering a similar situation. It appears in "View" mode (immediately after clicking on Save for a new record or in view mode for an existing record), the error is displayed. However, in edit mode, the field displays correctly. I'm sure it has something to do with the referencing but it's not obvious how to correct.
One way I have resolved this is to customize the form and change the value the field is displaying from the default record picker report to a specific field or some other report.

Once you save that you can leave it as it is if you like the result, or you can go back and change it back to record picker again and it should resolve itself.

This started happening for me today.   There have been a few releases recently.   Perhaps an enhancement had an impact on the ability to display the related information?

If you are having this issue also, please click the Me Too icon above.   I think that the QuickBase care team monitors this forum and will notice a question that had a high Me Too count.

I just found that clearing the check box: Lookup options [] Display as a link to the related record

Removes the error message and displays the value of the look up field.

It this option works for your application it may calm your users by turning off the red type error message.

This is unusual, bit I have seen it happen once in a while. I do not believe it is due to any improper configuration on the part of the field or the form, but it tends to be a one-off problem which you can resolve by removing the field from the form, saving the form, and then re-adding the field.

Thanks,

Brian

Hi Brian, I just encountered this right before your update. I think that what triggers the error - and not all the time - is when you make a change to the embedded report that the reference proxy is set to display. I opened the form builder and clicked on the field row, clicked Save, and the error message went away.
