Adding Datestamp to multi-line text box (no logging)

Hello -

I would like one of my text box's to receive a datestamp that preceeds the text that is entered into that same text box.

Example: User enters into TextBox01: "blah blah blah"

then user saves the record

Record then displays: "[Datestamp] blah blah blah"

This user would then be able to start this process again and the previous comments would be overwritten with the latest.

I'm aware that logging would make this a trivial request, but it is important that I am not logging this field.

Thanks in advance.

Since you are not using the natively-designed Logging field; you would need two fields and a formula. When the [Text Field] is modified; you need to modify a [Date/Time] field to the current time/date when the record is saved. Then use a third formula-field to string those two together.

You cannot use Form Rules to populate a Text box with two values from two separate fields. You also could not simply string the [Date Modified] since the text-field might have been updated before another entry.

I am not sure why you would not use the Text-Append field; as this is the best way to capture history. You can use Part() function fields to extract components of the Text append field; including the Date/Time and Name or the Last Message (prepend only).
