Can a user data type field be based on groups?

We have created groups in order to more easily manage security to our many applications in Quickbase.

We also want to use them for fields that are USER DATA TYPES so that we can restrict the users in the dropdown based on the group we have assigned to that field. Right now we can only manually pick users from a group when creating the user list for a field, but that means that if the groups change (which they do daily), we have to go into every application and update the user fields for that group.

I just want to say MANAGEMENT (my group name) for a user list, and when I update the management group it updates the users in the dropdown.

Surely this is a simply thing and I am just missing something. Please help!

NOTE: I do NOT want to have the group be the user that the person chooses. I want to tie a group to a user field and the person would see all the names in that group in their drop down.

Hey-

This is a great idea. I can see how limiting a list to a group would be useful. Unfortunately this is not something you can do at this time. We certainly appreciate and value all customer input, and in order to make sure your request is heard, we'd like you to submit it via the appropriate channel. At this time, all enhancement requests must go through User Voice. User Voice is a new feature in QuickBase that allows users to submit their new feature requests, as well as vote on previously submitted ideas by other users.

You can access User Voice from your "My QuickBase" page, and then clicking the orange feedback button from the left hand side of the screen. You can also access User Voice by clicking the following link:

Thanks!
