I have multiple applications for individual programs and i've linked them to a "Portfolio Management" application. I'd like to be able to add reports to the portfolio management application (in the reports and charts area) so it appears just like it does in the program application.

Can this be done?

if so, will it update and copy when i add new columns to the report in the program application?

I'm not aware of a way to get the report to be right with the other reports.

A common way to give users access to a report from another application is to add a button or link on your dashboard that links to that report in the other app. This should work as long as the users have access to both applications, and it should be a pretty seamless experience. Maybe you have a whole link bar of links to popular reports on the left side of the dashboard, and one of them happens to link to this external report.

Since this link actually does bring you to the other app, it will stay up to date as you change that report.

Would something like that work?

that's unfortunate that we can't connect to reports the same way we connect to fields - that'd be a great feature. But i understand this connection gizmo is still new and i'm sure it will be developed at some point. At this point, i'm just remaking the reports on the "Parent" application.
My goal is to create a program and portfolio management application that will allow managers to see critical data from multiple applications across multiple project managers without having to fuss through all the "extra" fields that are used by team members responsible for actually doing the work.
Until today I've been using the report link in a button like you suggested on a dashboard, and it has been ok. Now that i've linked tables and mapped fields, its becoming much more robust. Its much easier to keep down the clutter/noise within the application without having to manage role access to reports and/or fields.
