Can I build field a reference with a formula? Example, instead of [_fid_7] use "[_fid_" [Variable]&"]" where [Variable] = 7

Currently I use a case statement :

Case([Variable],

24,[_fid_24],

25,[_fid_25],

26,[_fid_26]

)

I will eventually have dozens of fields.  I am hoping to simplify this with a simple formula.  Can I use a formula to simply select the field based on a value of the record.  This is similar to using a variable in the column portion of an Excel vlookup.

I need the ability to build a "Calculated Field" to select a particular field in the table based on the value if a field named "Variable". Let's assume I have a field named "Variable".  Lets assume that for record 1000 "Variable" = 32.  I then want the "Calculated field" to show me the value of fieldID 32.  If record 1001 has "Variable" = 44 I want the value for the "Calculated Field" to be equal to the value in field 44.
