I have a report that maintains customer conversations about our products.  The field "Notes" a multi-line text field can be lengthy and when displayed on a report may only show 2-3 records per page.  For reports is there a way to suppress the number of rows shown per record or limit the number of characters to display (per field) on a report?

I suggest making a new field to show in reports, which is a truncated version of the text.

The formula for [Notes (abbrev.)] would be

Left[Notes], 500)
&
IF(Length([Notes]) > 500, ".... more")

Thanks but It appears there is a missing parenthesis.

Corrected.

Left([Notes], 500)
&
IF(Length([Notes]) > 500, ".... more")

the "...more" can be a link to a popup window to show the full note and can be useful in reports. this acts just like the "..more" option in multi-text field within forms.

var Text notes = If ( Length(Trim([Notes1])) = 0 ,  "N/A", URLEncode([Notes1]));
var Text xurl = "<a href='#' onclick='alert(unescape(`" & $notes & "`));'>...More</a>";
var Text part = Left([Notes1],100);
var Text fullNote = $part &  $xurl;
var Text note =  If ( Length([Notes1]) > 100, $fullNote , $part);

$note
