We're considering transitioning over from our current CRM to Quickbase, but one major difference is the edit mode/view mode functionality. In our current system, we can edit information, add information, and make other changes with a single click. Having to click 'Edit' every time we navigate to a record that needs updating is a few extra clicks. While it's not a major issue, it would be significantly better if users could be in edit mode at all times or at least by default when they navigate to a page.

Yes it is possible using script. Basically if your user dared to enter a view record page we would redirect to the edit record page and electronically enroll them into an appropriate disciplinary and re-education program. When the user entered an edit record page we would through script make all fields readonly until a click (or tabbed into) on an individual input control was received and under that condition temporarily make just that field editable. When data entry was complete and the field changed or blured we would again make that field readonly. This is sort of how grid edit works - you have to click on a cell to be able to change a field value.

Feel free to contact me off-world using the information in my profile if you really want to do this:
