Colorization by less than comparison for text field

I have the following colorization formula for a report in reference to a text field: "IE Version".

If ([IE Version]<9, "#FFCC99")

I imported a spreadsheet to create this field and most of the values were extended versioning numbers, e.g.,

11.0.9600.17843

8.0.7601.17514

but the formula still worked (compared the number to 9 and colorized if less than)

Now when I'm manually typing in a simple number like "11" this row is still being colorized, but I'm not sure why.

Thanks!

I suggest you convert the version to a number.
Try this formula

var number VersionNumeric = ToNumber(Left([IE Version]), "."));

IF($VersionNumeric < 9, "yellow")

There he is!

Oh...alright. I didn't like this because it wipes out all of the exact version info. I copied the field and converted.

Thanks!

I corrected a bug in my original posting.
