Conditional dropdowns show record ID

I followed the directions to create a conditional dropdown. When I am creating the record, the values display fine and the conditional fields work. However, when I save the record, the conditional fields don't display the text but instead they display the record ID. I used the "Related.." to create the conditional but it is of type Numeric (reference). Am I supposed to use another field or can I somehow change what is displayed?

In this scenario, what you want to do is make the [Related Reference] fields visible only in Add and Edit modes; and then use the Lookup-Text values that display the values you want to see in View mode on your Form.

This way, when the User is adding or editing a record and selects a record from the Parent, they are seeing the chosen Record Picker or custom Report you have selected for that Related Reference field selection.  In View mode of the record, you want the User to actually see the values from the Parent record that describe the parent (ie. "Host" and "2B")
The other approach is to go to the Relationship and edit the field properties for the [Related Parent field on the right side of the relationship. Set the Proxy field for that field to be the lookup field which best identifies the Parent record.

That was in View mode the [parent name lookup] field showsits lookup value but in edit mode it behaves as the field [Related Parent].

ie just set the Proxy field value for [Related Parent] and put that Oroxy lookup field on the firm instead of [Related Parent]
