Customize default report by role?

Hi,

I know how to customize the Default Report but the problem is that every role is affected by these changes. How can I assign a different Default Report based on role, as I would do with List All or the Home Page? Is it even possible?

List All is fine when a user is in a table just looking at it but if they click on any summary fields it takes them to the Default Report instead. I want that to look different as well depending on what role they are assigned.

There is only 1 default report but as you have discovered, each Role can have a different report for the Table Home Page.

The default report only really tends to come up for regular users when doing searches or when drilling down into summary reports and charts. For the searches, you can have different search widgets on the dashboard for different results targets.  For the drill down report, you would need to have different Summary reports which are identical except for the drill down target report.

I still don't see it, sorry. I've gone to a few different summary reports and I don't see this anymore as an option.

For example, if I customize List All I don't have any way of specifying how the drill down report will appear.

Are you looking at a summary report type report?  The List All report is a "Table Report" type.  The only other possibility is if you are on the "Essentials" Plan level and that may not have that option.

Oh I see it, thanks. You were right, I wasn't actually looking in a summary report.

I have a table called "Jobs" which shows numeric summaries of other tables in columns. It's these numeric summaries that I want to set Role-based drilldown behavior for. The problem is, "Jobs" is not in itself a summary report, it is a table report. So I can't modify the drilldown behavior in this case when someone clicks on a numeric summary. If I try to replicate the "Jobs" table report as a summary report, the numeric values in the columns are not clickable and so there is no drilldown.

OK, that explains the confusion. Not sure what to suggest. Sounds like you need field level override by Role in drill down behavior. That sounds like an enhancement request via User Voice.

I agree, I will ask about that. Thanks for your help.
