Hi,

I have this relationship:

Type>>Task>>Activity

Type>>Activity

In the Activity Record, the Type and Task exist as dependent dropdown lists.

I would like [Task] to display a list of it related options as a report when a parent Type is selected.

Can this be done?

Thanks,

Chris

I'm not understanding what you are asking.  Can you perhaps explain with an example?

When I select one of the options from the [Type] selection box, I want [Task] to be an embedded report of the selections it would have if it were a dependent drop down selection box. So, instead of two dependent selection boxes, the second box is instead an embedded report of what the selections would be.

Hi Chris,

You can set up a conditional dropdown by going to the Related Task field and using the checkbox for Conditional Dropdowns. You would then set it so a selection in Activity: Related Type shows choices where Activity: Related Type=Task: Related Type. The link below is to our help article that discusses conditional dropdowns. If you need more help with this you can always submit a support case and we'd be glad to walk through it with you.

Hi Jeff,
Thanks for your input. What I'm actually looking for is the dependent drop down to instead be in the form of an embedded report. So, I'd select an option from the parent dependent drop down, then, the child dependent would behave a bit differently. I'd want that child list to be in the form of a full report of the options for reference, rather than another selection list.

Thanks,
Chris

You can set your conditional dropdown to be based on a field from the parent record instead of just the related field. This can sometimes cause an issue if the values do not match exactly though. I'd recommend submitting a support case so we can look at your app a little closer and come up with a resolution.

Best,
Jeff
