My first post here. Howdy folks and thanks.

I am a user creating a table report. The records contain name, last modify date, record#, etc. I'm trying to display only the last record # of the name.

Hence:

john doe     1    7/1/15

john doe     2    7/3/15

jane smith  1    7/2/15

jane smith 2     7/4/15

I only want ......... john doe    2    7/3/15    and jane smith   2    7/4/15 to display.

I've added our rpt builder as photos below (hope they help).

This can be done but only if your Names are being pulled from another table.

If they are, then what you do is in the relationship where 1 Name has Many records, make a Summary field of the Maximum Record ID. Then do a lookup of that Summry Maximum down to the detail table.
Then in your report, filter where the Record ID# is equal to the value in the field Maximum  record ID for this Name.

The names are pulled for from another table (but are done in the background), but on the screen shots I gave, the names can only be selected from the field drop down on the form.
