Display # of Records for Pie Chart Data Values?

I'm trying to display a very simple pie chart that shows the breakdown of which of our contacts have emails addresses and which do not.

I created a formula checkbox field called 'Has Email?' which displays Y or N to denote if the contact has an email address.

In 'Series' I pick 'Has Email?', group by Equal Values.

In 'Data Values' this dropdown only shows a limited number of my fields, seemingly those with Y/N or number values. I just want to display the # of contacts.

Apparently I can't leave this field blank.

QuickBase help shows a pie chart with <Calculated Column> Summarized by (summed) but this doesn't help.

Thank you!

Can you give some details about your table set up?  I was not able to reproduce this.

I created a simple 1-table test app - with a "Contacts" table.

Fields:

- Name - Text

- Email - Email Address

- Has Email? - Formula Checkbox, with the formula:  [Email] <> ""

Test Data: I created a few test records - some with emails, some without.

Pie Chart report

- Series - "Has Email?"

- Data Values - in the dropdown, the very last option (below <Calculated Column> is "# of Contacts"

And that was it.  the "# of Contacts"  showed as a data value on the segments of the pie chart.   e.g. yes 3 (30%)

Using the Data labels option, I could select different formatting options - Value, Percent, Value and Name, Percent and Name, etc.

Intersting. Thanks for your work, Xavier! If it seems like I'm not doing something wrong, I'll contact QuickBase Support.

Thank you!
