Does anyone know how to use the line/bar chart to create a Pareto chart? I am calculating equipment downtime counts, How would you create the cumulative percentage?

The easiest way to produce a Pareto Chart within QuickBase is to use a simple three step procedure:

  1. Use the QuickBase HTTP API to obtain the raw data upon which the Pareto Chart is based
  2. Process the raw data using JavaScript, Underscore and jQuery and merge it into the options parameters of a demo HighChart that implements a basic Pareto Chart
  3. Display the chart on a user defined page, or merge it into another QuickBase page, form or report
I took this Hichchart demo found with a Goolge search ( keywords: HighCharts Pareto Chart):

http://fiddle.jshell.net/yr779/4/light/

Then I cleaned it up a bit and dropped unneeded options to produce this basic Pareto Chart using hard-coded data:

http://fiddle.jshell.net/351jbmzk/embedded/result,js,html,css,resources/

If you click on the JavaScript tab you will see that the data the chart is based on can be easily identified. A little JavaScript can grab the raw data from the QuickBase HTTP API and slot it into the options where the hard-coded data resides (steps 1 & 2 above).

If you need additional help implementing this in QuickBase feel free to contact me off-world using the information in my profile.
