I have a parent table Projects which has two child tables, Cost and Variations. The cost table has a child table. Trades. where I record trade level cost.
As users need to view trade level costs when they are raising a variation, is it possible to show a report from the trade table? This effectively child of child table of the parent table.
The extra filter is supplied when you set up the Report Link field and create the matching pair of fields from the record you are sitting on and the target table for the report.
Soooooo, this is easy.
The matching field you need is the [Record ID# of the Project]. So do a lookup of that field down to the Trades Table.
Then on the Variations Table create a Report link field and configure it to match the [Related Project] field with the [Record ID# of the Project].
But I do think that an obstacle will be that the Report link field will not display in add mode. You will probably need to save the Variations record before it runs the report to put the results in the form.
As for that auto save its so useful arguably it should default that way. The setting is on the Parent table in Advanced Settings
"Save parent record automatically when a child record is created"
