Field log not working.

I have a field that logs PO actions (e.g. Approved) that is suddenly not updating. What could be the culprit? The field looks right (and worked before).

Can you eplain how it updates?  Is this a form rule?  Or is is simply a field set to Log changes.

It's a field set to log changes. It works elsewhere in the app.

Is the field still set to Log changes?  if so, there is no way that it wil noyt Log changes.  Are you editing this field manually or by a form rule or an API?

It's set to Log Changes. I'm using a form rule to log changes to certain fields.

... then the form rule is not firing.  i would explore why it is not firing.

It is logging "Waiting for Approval", but when the status changes to "Approved" that is not logged.

Can you edit your original question and post a screen shot of the form rule that is supposed to be firing?

OK, so my guess is that PO Status is a multiple choice field, and also PO Status log is also a Multiple choice field.  I will bet that the spelling of the choice in the log field for "Approved" is slightly different from the status  for "Approved" in the PO Status field.  Maybe even a trailing space.  A form rule cannot make a multiple choice field be an entry that is not a choice.

I sorted this out with Ian off-line.
 In fact the PO status Log field had invalid choices and hence the form role would not update to an invalid choice.

Ian also had a separate problem with the URL formula field which was not updating the PO status Log field  and the reason was that that the formula URL was not coded to update the PO status log field.
