I would like to relate a field (field type is file attachment) to be displayed as a link in the view of another table. I have created the relationship between the tables, but none of the file attachment types seem to be available as a linked field. Is this just not possible or perhaps I am missing another way to do this. Any help is appreciated.

That is correct you cannot pass the file attachment, however here is the work around.

You need to make a new 'formula-URL' field.  Call it something like [Document Link].

Then the formula you will use this:
URLRoot() & "up/" & Dbid () & "/a/r" & [Record ID#] & "/e62/v0/"
you will need to change the '62' to the field ID of your actual file attachment field.
So look at the field properties for the file attachment, under the usage tab it will show the field ID #.

After you've made that change, anytime you click that link it will download the file attachment as usual.

You can then add the [Document Link] field to your relationship as you'd like.

hint: if you change the link text to something shorter it will display that, rather than a really long url
