I would like to create a field that displays a Google Hangout button that invites the email address.

https://developers.google.com/+/hangouts/button

Here's the Google Hangout API Example for inviting participants:

<html>
<head>

<title>Hangout button demo: Inviting people</title>

<link rel="canonical" href="http://www.example.com" />
</head>
<body>

<script src="https://apis.google.com/js/platform.js" async defer></script>

<g:hangout render="createhangout"

invites="[{ id : 'employee@example.com', invite_type : 'EMAIL' },
                  { id : 'admin@example.com', invite_type : 'EMAIL' }]"
>

</g:hangout>
</body>
</html>

I'd like to replace 'employee@example.com' with the value in an email field on the record.
Any suggestions?

This is easy to do using the image onload technique:

Google Hangout Button

Pastie Database

See attached screenshot captured just after clicking the first hangout button. I only implemented this feature on the report listing page but it would be simple to add it to other pages such as the view record page.

FWIW, the library platform.js used in this example is Google's polyfill library to bring Web Components to all browsers.
