This feels like such a silly question, given the complexity of some of the stuff I DO understand but I can't understand why I'm not able to do this one thing...

I have a relationship like this...

Quote -< Quote Lines >- Systems -< System Lines >- Components

I need to allow a customer to see the "List price" or "Discounted price" for a "System" on their "Quote". However, I don't ever want them to see the "Cost price".

The "List price" is calculated from the "Cost price" with a formula at the "Component" and then passed up the various relationships via Lookups and Summaries.

However, I can't seem to get them to be able to see the "List price" at any level unless I allow them access to view the "Cost price" at the "Component" level...

What am I doing wrong???

How do I stop them viewing the cost price?

I have not tested recently via relationships, but on the field which calculates the List price, click the box that says Override sub-field access Use the access permissions above even if they are less restrictive than those of the sub-fields.

Normally if you cannot see a field used in a calculation, then you cannot see that field at all.  The checkbox says to ignore the usual restrictions.  Let me know if that works for you and I will change this to a Answer as opposed to a Comment.

Thanks Mark, that seems to have done the trick. I guessed it was something simple.
