How can I allow users to attach a lot of files to my form?

Hi Quickbase wizards,

I'd love to be able to allow users to attach a lot of files to a form. Right now I have included 10 attachment fields (but I need even more in some cases).

It seems a bit overkill just to keep adding attachment fields to form, and it gets a bit messy. Is there a better way I can incorporate attachments into my form? Ideally without the use of any add-ons.

Thanks!

YES, YES, Yes there is a better way.

no problem, just make a child table called File Attachments and allow you users to add as many children as they like.

Thank you for your response!

I've had the chance to have a little play around with this after reading your reply. It doesn't seem like this is a very intuitive way of attaching files for the user (maybe I am missing some key settings!).

The user has to click on a button which takes them to a new page where they can upload a single file. They then have to repeat to add more.

The output is displayed in a little report table that's viewable on the form where each row of the table is a different page.

Is there a way to condense it down to a format that is closer to the field-based file attachment method?

Thanks

In short, can I eliminate the steps that require the user to open a different page?

Hmmm, in terms of Native QuickBase, well no.

Juiced Technologies a great 3rd Party Partner, has a wonderful add on tool for multi file add.  They have a demo here

Just select the 1st option.

I have implemented their products many times for my clients and have implemented that particular add on tool as well.

When you say this:
The output is displayed in a little report table that's viewable on the form where each row of the table is a different page.

Yes, each file attachment is on a row in an embedded table on the Main Parent record.

That's a shame. It seems unlikely that I will gain approval for an add-on.

I have never fiddled with add-ons. Do they apply to a single app, or the whole QuickBase? We have 200-odd apps and I don't think we have ever installed any

You would need to talk to Juiced about their Pricing.  It's a monthly charge.  The thing is that once a Users sees the tool in action, they will want it bad, if they have to uploads many files at once.  You just browse to your drive and select 1 file or 100 files and then upload.  Each is loaded to a child record.  So the internal selling would be a "pencil and paper" exercise.  How many files uploaded per month times seconds saved per upload plus employee morale.  OK, well, maybe never mind that last one if it won't count.   Then vs the Monthly Juiced cost which will be in the neighbourhood of a buck or two a day.

I'll have a look into it. I can't seem to get on to the quickbasetools website at all right now though.

Thank you for your help! I'll let you know if I make any progress.

Have a good weekend!
