This is not easy to do in terms of changing the background color of the form.  However, you can pretty easily add icons to the form to give it more interest.  The icons could be from outside QuickBase or from here https://www.quickbase.com/db/9kaw8phg?a=ShowPage&pageid=134

The is a whole new look and feel in development now called the Mercury UX" (User eXperience) and expected to be available for limited beta testing in the fall, so you might just want to hang in there for that to some out.  it will have tabbed forms, for example.

This can be easily done using the image onload technique.

See screenshot attached and code in the following pastie:

Despite being easy to do I don't think this is the greatest idea as the solution will probably only have a year's usable lifetime before the new UX is widely deployed and I would not rule out the need for additional code if your form has other field types on it. My code only addressed some of the patches needed to make text fields display against the desired background color without gaps. There may be additional display issues when other field types are on the form.

But on the other hand there is no reasonable problem the image onload technique cannot solve!
