How do I create a field that automatically pulls information from another field using a different table?

Here is what I want to do. I have a table called "Proposals" and a table called "Projects". I want to take information that is already in the Proposal table and populate it in the Projects table. The information in the Proposal table is several fields but I would like them to populate in automatically in the Project table when I input the Proposal Number. The Proposals table has proposal numbers for example 15P132 but they do NOT correspond with the Project number example 15A132. Those can be two different things all together.

Here is the scenario: I have a "Proposal" or bid that we were awarded. Now I input the information into the "Project" table. This is where I want to use the Proposal Number to auto populate certain fields. Like how much was our bid? The address? Etc..

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

no problem.

You just need to have a relationship between the two tables such that one Proposal has many Projects. (it does not matter that you may only have 1 Project per proposal, it's still going to be the "child:" in the parent child Relationship.  here is some help on building a Relationship.

http://www.quickbase.com/user-assistance/Default.html#about_relationships.html

Once you have the relationhips built, uyou would put the field for Related Proposal on the form.  The best way to do this is to edit the field properties for Related Proposal to set the Proxy field to be whatever best identifies the proposal in human terms, for example the Proposal name or the Proposal number.  Then put that on your form.  In view mode it will behave like a lookup and in edit mode it will act as the [Related Proposal] field allowing you to chose a related Proposal for the project.
