I have a table called "Notes". Within that table is a text field called "Note". I made a relationship between a "Company" table and this "Notes" Table. Users fill in notes regarding the Company. However, I want to summarize the "Note" field (that users input their comments) in a report to show the "Most Recent Note". How can I accomplish this. I have done research on proxy fields and a reference field but have no idea how to create them or how this would work. Any instructions would help.
1. On the relationship where 1 parent has many children make a Summary of the Maximum of the Record ID. Call it [Record ID# of Most recent Note]
2. Make a new relationship where 1 Child has Many Parents (ie a "reverse relationship") and use that field on the right side of the relationship.
3. Look up the Note text field to the Parent.
Can you did me if you did step #2? When you set up the relationship where 1 Child has many Parents, did you let it default to the field [Related xxxx] (which would be incorrect) or did you use the field that you created with the summary field, called [Record ID# of Most recent Note]
I suggest trying his first in a Copy of your app :)
