If you want a field to only show in edit mode then set the form property for that field to only show in edit (and add?) mode.

Have a similar question : I only want certain fields to appear if they fulfill the form rules but not on the main form when nothing has yet to be selected.

Currently I do have some fields which won't be reflected in a new form yet all the "display when this form is used for" options are  edit, add or view.

    Dyn,
It is best to post a new question, but I happened to see this.

You can use Dynamic form rules to set the conditions under which fields show on the form.
