I believe they are buttons generated in a form when there is a relationship between tables. I've checked the role permissions I know how to check, but I can't figure out where they come from to disable them for certain roles. I still want roles to be able to view the information, only not be able to edit any part of the record or form. See the "Add" buttons in the attached image.

The Role permissions will control if they will be allowed to add a record.  If users who do not have permission to add a record push the button they will get an ugly permissions error which is not a good user experience.

The solution is to use Form Rules to hide the button.

When  the User is not in the Role ......

Thank you. I've wondered what the dynamic form rules were for.
:)  Indeed - they are most useful!
