How to change the value of the customized key field when adding a new project?

I have a table of projects and the key field of the table is set to be the Project ID, since we're using these unique and comprehensive for us values in the organization. Normally I add new projects through import/export option, but recently we decided that we might need to add project directly in the form.

I'm unable to do so. The key field is a type of text(reference) and it's represented as a dropdown list, not the user input field. I would like to have the ability to define the key field value when adding a new page, is it possible?

Thank you in advance,

Polina

Can you describe your table setup?  It sounds like you have a master list of Project numbers and then you are adding a Project record as a child?  Is that the setup?  I.e. What is the relationship between that drop down list source and your project?

Hi Mira, no, I'm talking about one table - Projects table. I'm using a customized project code as a key field instead of record ID. When I click on "Add new project" button I'm redirected to the form, where there is my key field Project Code presented. But then, instead of being able to populate new project code there for a new project, I'm proposed to choose from the dropdown list of all existing project codes.

Polina - You'll need to adjust the properties of the field and change it from Multiple-Choice to User Input. If you have Administrator permissions, this would be done via the Properties page, in the Text Field Options section.

Hi Blake, I can't do this - I think since this field is the reference field, system doesn't allow me to change the field type.
