How to fix the value of master table's field in the child table?

I have two tables: Project activities, which is my master table, and Activity status, which is a child table.

I have an automatic status, which depends on the dates of the activity and which is defined in Project activity table. I have another status that is defined by project managers manually in Activity status table. I need to have a history of status change, therefore I created reversed relationships between two tables and I display only the latest manual status on master table. How can I also "fix" automatic status in the child table, so I can see the comparison in the status history log?

Thank you,

Polina

If you are looking to freeze (ie "fix")  the value of the Automatic Project Activity Status at the time the Child Activity Status is created, you can do a lookup of the Project Activity Status down to the child and called it Project Status lookup, and then create a new field called Project Activity snapshot.  Set the field properties for this 2nd field to be a snapshot of the lookup field.  That setting is at the bottom of the field properties.

Here is the help on snapshot fields http://www.quickbase.com/user-assistance/Default.html#setting_up_snapshot_fields.html
