How to get hits on French accented words like Lévis when searching Levis.

My user issue is that a Customer name may be entered as Lévis but then an English user may filter on the filter box based on Levis and get no hits.

Is there any way to have say a mirror of certain important fields, such as a Customer name where the French accents are stripped out and replaced by the non accented letters.  I was thinking to give the users a Search icon which would search a target report that had the alternate customer name but I cannot see a way to convert those characters.
