How to Modify 'Date Modified' field?

I have found that QB may not be so accommodating when it comes to uploading the real data en masse as this effectively sets the date modified to the date and time when records were added.   As a result, sometimes when you need to rely on date modified in certain formulae, you can't get the right result. A case in point is the following scenario.

I have a projects table which deals with construction projects. As part of the developments, projects are designed.  As there are several versions of design created (as child table), I do need to show the latest version in my project record. This works well if I had a record manually created but for imported records, this does not work.  Question, is there a way I could  report back the last modified instance of a child record in the projects table without having to rely on the date modified? Or can I amend the date modified using another field.

no problem.

One Project has many Design Variations.

Make a Summary field of the Maximum  of the [Date Modified]

Then you may also want to have a formula field to calculate the highest of the [Date Modified] of the children and the [Date Modified] of the Project.

Max([Date Modified], [Maximum date Modified of design variations])

Mark I have this formula field in place but since all variations have the same date modified due to data being uploaded at one time, this is not working for me.

OK, sorry, I misread your question.  Can you tell me how you know which is the most current variation by looking visually at the QuickBase Parent and its embedded child table?

Is there any date field or numeric version # that tells us which is the most current?

Yex I did import a field Date Updated as part of the import and that can tell which one is the latest.

Then don't do the Summary on the built in system field of [Date Modified], do the Summary Maximum of the [Date Updated]. Does that solve the problem?

Thanks. If this is possible to use any other field, then there is no issue.  The only concern is that the formula was created by the Support personnel using reverse relationship. So will try to change it myself.
