How to prevent the group name from repeating down a report's category?

I have a table report that is grouped and sorted by more than one category.  The report displays with the first category repeating on every row instead of just the first row of that category.  It makes the report look overly busy and is not as easy to read.

For instance if my first grouped category is Country, followed by State, followed by detail records, it looks like this

United States – Nevada
    detail record 1
    detail record 2
United States – Alaska
    detail record 1
    detail record 2
United States – Alabama
    detail record 1
    detail record 2

However, I want it to display the category header only once like below.

United States
     Nevada
     detail record 1
     detail record 2
     Alaska
     detail record 1
     detail record 2
     Alabama
     detail record 1
     detail record 2

How do I do this?  Also, it would be nice if I could add an expand collapse feature (-+).  Is that possible and how do I do that as well?

Thank you

Have you tried the marking the options "Show summary table based on the grouped columns" and "Hide main table" on your table report settings? You might get something like the attachment.

Hopr it helps.

I looked at that, but I want to see the detail of my records in a table format.  I'm not totaling my records, I just want to view the records in groups for easy viewing and usage by the report users.  I'm looking to make the format cleaner so that it can be set up a subscription and eliminate the rework of exporting data to Excel only to reformat it before emailing it.  Thank you though  Some type of native solution like this is what I'm looking for.  This one just didn't work.

The other option is to try a Summary Report.  That is exportable to Excel.  it depends on how many "columns" that you need.  Each Column will be a group by level on the Summary Report Type.  Give it a quick try to see if that shows promise for your needs.

Actually, I'm trying to avoid exporting it to Excel.  I want to use QB, but I don't want rework. Exporting something to Excel just to reformat it is extra work for us customers.  We try to avoid that. :)

OK, try that Summary report type instead. The repetition is greyed out out some you maybe prefer that format.

I see your point Tamara. It could be possible that QB does not have a native solution for this but you can try a lot of workarounds to accomplish your needs. You may try using "Dynamic Filters" on your report. Group it only by State and then your customers may have the option to choose the country to want to inquiry about or all of them. Remember to place the Country column at the beggining of your table for better visibility.
