How to pull data from one field and into a field in a new table?

I have two Tables, "Shot Data" and "Tracker".

Shot Data includes columns of information about photographs, including their specific job identifier called a RefID. I want the RefID column to be automatically copied to Tracker and, ideally, in the process have any duplicate RefID's removed. That would be a good start.

Just for now, I've tried all kinds of things to get one column from one table copied into another table but I'm having a heck of a time figuring out how to do it automatically without any manual process what-so-ever. Any thoughts?

Pertinent information: the RefID column in Shot Data is a text-formula field, the RefID is stripped from the photograph's filename.

Create a relationship to the second table and the add child button is a URL field and can send values to populate the new child record.

How does the Shot Data get entered? And at what point do you need to have this field move over? Is it when someone creates a new Tracker record? or when a new record is added to Shot Data that the RefID must be used on a specific tracker record?
