My administration team needs to perform routine maintenance on my application and would like to restrict access to the application during the time.  What is the best way to ensure that no users can log in to the applications while we make routine changes?  I have about 200 users and 8 different roles, but the administrators have their own role.  Thank you!

You have a few different options - here's one:

Temporarily add to Deny list

- go to My Apps > Account Admin settings

- go to Users with Access

- for Users per page - change to 500 - this will show all your 200 users

- at the top left of the user list, click the checkbox to select ALL users

- uncheck the Administrator users (IMPORTANT!!! You want to make sure you and the other Administrators still have access)

- click the Add to Deny List link at the top of the user listing

- this adds all the non-Administrator users to the Deny list, and they will not be able to log in while you are making the changes.

- Note that this denies access to ALL applications in your account for those users.  If you need to deny access to only selected apps, you may need to look at other options - such as temporarily changing the role for those users in a particular app

Removing from Deny List

- after your maintenance is over, go to the Deny tab in Account Admin

- for Users per page - change to 500 - this will show all your 200 users

- at the top left of the user list, click the checkbox to select ALL users that you want to give access again

- click the Remove from Deny List link at the top of the user listing

- this removes all the selected users from the Deny list

- the advantage of this method is that this is a blanket "no access", and doesn't affect the permission settings for the users in the individual apps - so it's easy to apply and remove after
