I'd like to update a field called "Final Status" to the value of "sent to network" when the value in field "DME Status" has a value of "pendi". The original value in field "DME Status" would remain unchanged.

any ideas? obviously search and replace won't work...

If all your editing is done via firms and not grid edit, you can use Form Rules.

Make a Rule

When [DME Status] equals pendi
Change [Final Status] to sent to network.

There is also a checkbox at the bottom of that Rule to control if that is unconditionally enforced, or just when it changes to that status.

If you allow Grid edit, then this approach will not work. You would then need to have a formula field like [Final Status Calculated] which would take the value if [Final Status] unless [DME Status] equals pendi.
