i am trying to display number of fields depending on selection from prior field.

for example,  FIELD1 has number 3 displays i want 3 text field to open up. is this possible to do. and if so how is it done.. i tried all my knowledge in QB but couldn't get my head around it.

You seem to be asking about Form Rules.

If you are not on the basic "Essentials Plan", then you have access to Dynamic Form Rules.  If you are viewing a record and at the top right click on "Customize this form", you will see the tab for Dynamic form rules.

Thanks Mark, would Dynamic Form Rules work if user changes value to 4 and 4 text field opens up.. i tried setting up individual Form Rules but its giving me error since it effects first rule..

Right, so just turn your thinking upside down.    Make 1 form rule per field.  

ie, when do you want field 1 to show?  make a rule for that.

When do you want field 2 to show? make a rule for that.

etc
