I have 2 tables, Leads and Customers. Is there a way to search or do an advanced search in both tables at once?

I have a user that would like to be able to search for names (first and/or last names) in both the Leads and Customers tables in one search.

if you are at the Home page of the app then the generic grey search button at the top of the screen will search all searchable fields in all tables.

I strongly suggest that you review  the field lists in all your tables and enable the checkbox to show searchability.  Then hack away at those green checkboxes so that only fields that make sense to search are searched, otherwise, the search results will be slow if you have a lot of data and other users of the app will also be hung while the search is processing.
Also the table itself can be set as to if it should be searched in a global search.  That is a table property setting.  So, you may not want to search all tables.

Hey Mark!
Piggy backing off this original question, I am working in an app that no longer has the standard homepage but a customized one. When I try to create a new page or add a new search button to an existing page, there are only options to specify the table in which the button will search. ANy suggestions on what I am doing wrong.
Many thanks in advance,
Jane
Jane,
I'm not sure what your question is.  What is your goal here?

My ultimate goal is to enable my users to search three tables simultaneously, Parent (Company), and two Child tables (Requests and Archived Requests.) They are usually searching for part of a company name (from the Company table) or what may be a product produced by a company which could be in the Requests or the Archive Requests.
Having customized the homepage, I am trying to find out how I can create or put back the generic search button, per your response above, "if you are at the Home page of the app then the generic grey search button at the top of the screen will search all searchable fields in all tables."
I hope that makes more sense.
Thanks,
Jane
Can you tell me what you man by What do you mean by "put back the generic search button".  Do you see the generic search button with the magnifying glass icon at the top of your screen?

Or are you asking how you can make a button to do what that general search button does because for some reason you want it on your Dashboard as a button.

I do not see a generic search button. I would like to make a button to do what that general search button does.
It does not make sense that you do not have the general search box at the top of your screen. If you contact me off line via the information in my profile, I will have a quick look at your app and see why you cannot see it.

The only way that can be hidden is if in the Role you are in, presumably Administrator, that the UI setting for the Role has set Hide Search to be checked.  So let's work on getting that native search icon to show.
