Im trying to create a summary report that displays records for the current month.

I believe I need to use a calculated column but I haven't been successful with the formula. Basically, if the month in a date field = current month and year in a date field = current year display record

I suggest making a formula checkbox field called 

[Date is in Current Month?]

The formula will be 

FirstDayOfMonth(Today()) = FirstDayOfMonth([My Date Field]) 



If you prefer to get needlessly wordy you can also do



IF(FirstDayOfMonth(Today()) = FirstDayOfMonth([My Date Field]) ,true,false)
