Is it possible to....(long question)

I inspect client facilities the way a government agency would and find potential violations so they can be remedied before an actual agency inspects them.

With that in mind, I want to know if QB is capable of doing the following:

Let me have a checklist of things to check for, and be able to select satisfactory or unsatisfactory. I will be doing this on a tablet with which I'll also be taking pictures of the violations. When I'm done with my walk-thru, I'll want to pull up the things that were unsatisfactory, which brings up pre written blurbs of copy specific to the violation, a text field to add in any notes to each piece and attach the pictures I took. After all that, I want it to spit out a report with all that info, put in a word document type format instead of spreadsheet type format.

- So, is that possible?

- If so, is it possible with the Essential Plan?

- If so, is there an app in the Exchange that I should I start with?

The basic answer is yes it can be done.  I don't think you can accomplish this with the Essential's plan though as you will need code pages and/or API access.

I would suggest breaking down your project into a brief to better understand the requirements of the project.  I would also suggest taking this brief to either JuicedTech or Trinity Solutions, both QB Partners.  These folks do amazing work and can definitely help you get up and running.

I agree that to produce output in Word format you wil need to use a 3rd party product like the one from Juiced and it uses APIs so it will not work on the Essentials plan.  There is a list of Developer Partners here http://quickbase.intuit.com/partners who can help get you up and running quickly.  I have done many implementations for clients, including many implementations of the Juiced Exact Forms Plus product.

To use QuickBase on an tablet, you will just need to have a data plan on the ipad or hook to data via your smartphone if it can produce a WiFi hot spot.  QuickBase is all cloud based so there is no local offline capability.  Uploading pix is not a problem.

Just for the record, it doesn't need to be Word, I just want it to be a report that looks like a document and not a spreadsheet. I don't know if that changes anything or not.

It depends on how pretty it needs to be.  If you are OK with the standard of "not unattractive" then native QuickBase will be fine.  If you want "beautiful" then you need a third party product.

If you contact me off line via the email on my profile I can send you an example of a couple of pretty nice PDF's made using native QuickBase.

My email will be a bit hit and miss after today as I am traveling between now and the Thursday before Labor Day, but I would be happy to give you a QuickBase demo so you can get a feeling for its look and feel once I am back.  But do contact me and I will email some examples to you.
