Can you give an example of your data entry and what the result should be?  It sounds simple but I'm not understanding what you want.

Absolutely! It is a goals quickbase, so I have them enter the month and year they want to accomplish the goal. Instead of them trying to figure out which quarter that falls into, it would be great to have the quarter generate automatically. So, if they select August, Sept, Oct from the text multiple choice, it generates Q1 and so forth. Does that help?

Here is a formula for s text formula field

Assuming the month is numeric.

Case([Month]),
8, "Q1",
9, "Q1",
10, "Q1",
11, "Q2",
12,"Q2",
1,"Q2",
Etc
7,"Q4")

Thanks for the help! The only error it is showing now is "there are extra characters beyond the end of the formula" - I have played with the parenthesis quite a bit to try to find the error, but nothing seems to work. Any ideas? If not, no worries!

actually i see a bug in what I posted.  The closing bracket after [Month] does not belong there.

should be
Case([Month],
8, "Q1",
9, "Q1",
10, "Q1",
11, "Q2",
12,"Q2",
1,"Q2",
Etc
7,"Q4")
