Is there a Formula - URL that can be used to check a box and keep the user in the same location forcing them to save after the action has taken place?

Users will submit new items using this Request form and there are two possible actions. One action is to save with the minimum required fields and continue developing the form until they are ready to finalize which would be managed by a URL and form rules. Additional fields will be required and a check box will be changed to true for reporting and notification purposes. The second possible action is that users will be ready to finalize at the time of submission which rules out the URL because it references a Record ID which is not available until the record has been saved/added. Check boxes manage this solution well, but the ask is to have a button that will trigger the check box changes.

Can you clarify?  Are you asking if there can be a button to check a checkbox?  Why not just have the user check the checkbox then?

The button is more visible and it meets the end user requirements. Also, there is a need to require fields, check box, and save/add.

I can help you with URL buttons to edit an existing record. But as you said, it's difficult to edit an unsaved record as the rid does not exist.

Requiring fields can be done with form rules.

It's possible to make a button to save a record, if you don't like the placement of the native green  save button.
