Is there a way to convert a text multiple choice selection to a user field?

I have a client with an application that never used User fields, just Multiple Choice fields. In order to make email notifications easier, I want to use a formula to convert what ever name is in the Multiple Choice Text field [Account Manager] to a User field. Is this possible? If so, should the new field that takes that MC choice be a formula User field?

thanks!

Well, I suggest doing it right.

If you just want to use the native user list for a User field, I would create the new User field and then use either Grid edit or the Find and Replace  (ie do 1 find and replace per user) to mirror the current text drop down list with the user field for the same "name".  Then locate all the places were the name was used and change those to use the new User field.

Then delete the old text field.

Mark, having built qb apps for 12 years now, that's exactly what I thought! Just thought I might have missed a trick or two. :) Will march forward, lol. Thanks!!!

yup, sometimes you just need to grind though to make things right.
