Is there a way to link to a help document from report - such as making the report title a URL to the help document?

If you want to link to a fixed record's file attachment in another record this would be the format.

URLRoot() & "up/" & [_DBID_DOCUMENTS] & "/a/r" & [Focus Document Record ID#] & "/e11/v0"

If you know it's always Record ID 10 then it would be

URLRoot() & "up/" & [_DBID_DOCUMENTS] & "/a/r10" & "/e11/v0"

The e11 means the field the file is stored in is field ID 11.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm sure it will be useful for other people who are trying to link to a fixed record's file attachment from another record.

My request is much simpler. I would like to link to a help document from a report. I'm not trying to link from any of the report results. I would simply like a hyperlink like this:

Help Understanding This Report

that would be somewhere outside the report results and enable me to hyperlink from the report to the help document so users can read a guide about the report itself.

I hope that clarifies my question.

I appreciate your answer and how quickly you gave it. Please consider my improved question above and let me know if that's possible

Thanks!

OK, well the issue is that the Table Home Page does not current have a place to add links other than on the records themselves.  So, you have a choice to provide the same link on every record, which is kind of a waste of space and in some ways insulting to users who "get it" and really don't need a link to the instructions thrown in their face all day.

The alternative is simply to put a link on the dashboard of your app  as a URL element where they click a button and get to a particular record which has the instructions.  To do that you just take the URL you see when viewing the record that has the instructions and paste it in as the URL link, then give the button any name you like.

You are so elegant in your description of the problem. I solved the problem with script and a single green button in the header of the table:

:) yes, very pretty.  QuickBase should let us do that natively, to have some Table Home Page links.

No we need script access - not page links. Click on button and run script (no page reload).

I see the green button. That's also cool.  But not quite what I am looking for. Within our QB app. there are little "I" for Information icons next to field labels on many fields, explaining (helping with) what should go in the field.

I'm looking for that same icon or a similar solution that I could place next to the Report Description on my reports, which would then EITHER open to expose "help text" for that report OR link to an external googledoc etc containing the help text.

Thanks for your useful responses!

Here is the icon URL:

You can't put HTML into those info popups using native features.

You could use a Service Worker to do this (because a Service Worker can modify the page before your browser even receives the page and starts parsing it). I am holding off posting Service Worker solutions only because the feature has not landed in Edge. It works in Chrome, Firefox and Opera and Microsoft has publicly announced they are actively working on supporting Service Workers. When Service Workers land everything becomes possible. Feel free to contact me off-world using the information in my profile if you want to pursue using Service Workers.

Here is the report title and report description I have on my live report. The bitly url is not only unclickable, it's not copy/pastable either. I am stymied.
